Marla & Walter // Courthouse Elopement

This is a very long overdue post, but definitely a day I won't forget.

Marla & Walter are some of the most humble people I've ever met. They were so relaxed and even when we had to wait longer than expected for the magistrate, there wasn't anything but calm in the air. Their love is sweet and I think these images depict their day perfectly - it was all about them and the fact they finally get to call each other husband and wife after 7 years. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do!

Ashley & Tyler // Surprise Proposal at the Savannah Rapids

Oh man. Honestly, it is hard to put into words how awesome this day was! At times I was nervous, excited, riddled with goose-bumps, running in 93° heat with my gear but most of all grateful to be apart of such a special moment!
Tyler brought Nick and I to Augusta - where he and Ashley have lived their whole lives and where he was planning on asking her to spend the rest of their lives together. They actually grew up as neighbors and went to school together but it wasn't until years later that they finally started dating. Tyler is in the Reserves and Ashley is a local school teacher and on this day, they decided to kind of repeat their first date - has this started to sound like a movie yet?
We met with Tyler a few hours before it was all going to go down and we strategized a plan and a route for the two of them to walk so we could capture some "secret" shots before and during the proposal. We even decided I would stop them at some point to ask them if I could take their picture "for my portfolio."
Needless to say, Tyler's thorough planning worked and Ashley had no idea any of this was coming. They were an absolute joy to work with and you can definitely see the love they have for each other in the engagement pictures that followed to proposal.
Check out some of my favorites from the day below!

Hi. Hello. Welcome.

Hey there!
Welcome and thanks for checking out my blog! Here I hope to give you a little glimpse into my life and share the stories of all the interesting people I meet along the way.

For those of you just getting to know me, my name is Samantha and I am a photographer, soon to be wife and mother of two adorable fur-babies. I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design - Atlanta in 2013, where I earned a Fine Arts Degree in Photography while simultaneously falling in love with Printmaking. After graduation, I kind of put my life as an artist on hold to maintain jobs that helped "pay the bills." I still took up gigs here and there when I came across them and even participated in a couple art shows, but photography had unfortunately become a secondary thought. Fast forward almost five years {man does time fly!} and I am SO happy to say that I am no longer a nine-to-fiver/food service worker/barista/manager/subordinate but that I am FINALLY a full time photographer. And have I mentioned it gets better?? I am also ecstatic to announce that my soon to be hubby, Nick, has also left the 9-5 workplace and is my partner! Throughout my college career and even after {we met my freshman year}, he has been by my side holding equipment, being my model, driving me to random abandoned places, staying up late helping me edit and basically assisting me in any way he could. He has been quite a trooper {you know how feisty artists can get} and I couldn't have asked for a better assistant {love you honey}. That being said, he has definitely picked up a thing or two and is finally comfortable behind the camera. It has definitely been a risk {and I know all the other artists out there know what I mean and how terrifying it can be}, but when you're able to pursue your dreams with your best friend by your side, does it get any better than that?

Needless to say, this is going to be such an exciting journey and I am so ready for all of the adventures ahead. I plan on sharing with you work that is both new and old and also create a space for thoughts and inspiration. Thanks again for checking this out and taking the time to get to know me.
